When Is St Patrick's Day?

I am often asked this question by people when I am visiting their countries.  Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and his feast is celebrated on the 17th March every year.  Many parades are held throughout the world and the main parade in Ireland is held in the capital city of Dublin.

St Patrick's day is also celebrated widely in America and Australia as many Irish people emigrated there during the hard times of the famine from around 1847 onward.
